Katie & David at The Chimney House, Kelham Island
Katie and David’s relaxed autumn wedding at The Chimney House, Kelham Island, Sheffield.
Katie & David’s early Autumn wedding was laid-back and gorgeous. The warm autumn light combined with the candlelit red brick of The Chimney House worked beautifully to create an intimate and cosy atmosphere. The Chimney House is licensed for ceremonies meaning that you can hold your entire wedding day there - perfect for couples like Katie and David who want to keep things relaxed.

Working with Katie and David was a joy. Every moment felt joyful, full of humour and authenticity. The Chimney House was the perfect venue for the wedding day they wanted. A wedding day which felt chilled, unfussy and intimate.
Katie and David hired me for half a day which I’m super happy to accommodate whenever I can! 5 hours was just the right amount of time to tell the story of their wedding day through photographs.

Ieva & Liam at Sheffield Town Hall and The Chimney House
A relaxed and intimate micro-wedding at Sheffield Town Hall and The Chimney House, Kelham Island.
Ieva and Liam’s late summer wedding was a gorgeously intimate and meaningful celebration with their very closest people in attendance. The vibe was relaxed and heartfelt with the couple seeing one another before the ceremony and walking into Sheffield Town Hall together. After the ceremony Ieva and Liam headed to The Chimney House at Kelham Island for drinks, speeches and a laidback feasting style meal.
Seeing one another before the wedding ceremony meant there was time for some relaxed photos outside Sheffield Town Hall.

After the confetti had been thrown Ieva and Liam enjoyed a picnic basket of champagne and snacks with their guests.
A moment in Sheffield’s Winter Gardens before heading to The Chimney House.
Sheffield has so many iconic spots for photos that feel alive and unique. I only had ten minutes with Ieva and Liam around Sheffield town Hall but it was ample to make some beautiful portraits.
We jumped in a Sheffield taxi to head over to The Chimney House.
The Chimney House is such a beautiful space that succeeds in feeling really special for weddings whilst remaining cosy and intimate.

On the stairway of The Chimney House before speeches. The speeches were beautiful and were read in both Lithuanian and English to honour the coming together of two families from different places.
We headed out to make more portraits around Kelham Island which has so much to offer when it comes to texture, art and interest for photographs.
I loved working with Ieva and Liam so much. Their day was so centred around the truly important things and in bringing two families together. Ieva and Liam’s relaxed day meant that they only needed me there for a few hours which I’m more than happy to accommodate wherever I can. I love micro-weddings just as much as the bigger ones and would love to hear from you if you’re planning your wedding in Sheffield! You can click here to drop me a message.

Anna & Ged at Trafalgar Warehouse & St Marie’s Cathedral
Anna and Ged’s joyful and colourful wedding at Trafalgar Warehouse and St Marie’s Cathedral in Sheffield.
Anna and Ged’s wedding wedding day was an explosion of joy and colour. They were married in August at St Marie’s Cathedral and held their reception at Trafalgar Warehouse in Sheffield.
Walking from St Marie’s to the reception at Trafalgar Warehouse.
Anna got ready at her parent’s home which holds a lot of memories for the whole family. The getting ready vibe was relaxed with plenty of time left over to make some gorgeous bridal portraits of Anna.

The ceremony at beautiful St Marie’s cathedral was centred around Anna and Ged’s faith - the ceremony included lots of meaningful moments, joyful singing and important traditions.
This light at St Marie’s was beautiful.
I love this joyful, close up frame from Anna and Ged’s confetti exit.
Sheffield by the Sea was taking place on Anna and Ged’s wedding day and we couldn’t pass by without making use of the colourful backdrops which worked so well with their weddings vibrant theme.

We had time to nip back out after the speeches and meal which meant we could make the most of golden hour in Sheffield.

Confetti canons brought even more colour to the day. Backchat Brass played two amazing sets and got the energy going on the dance floor.
Anna and Ged had planned a country music set at ten to ten (obviously). They passed out cowboy hats to guests and the energy changed again with various attempts at line dancing.
Anna and Ged’s wedding day was a perfect example of letting every moment and detail reflect who you are as people. It was a joy to photograph their day and to feel so creatively free as they completely trusted that I would understand their vibe - a vibe which is warm, colourful, joyful and abundant in love and happiness. Everywhere I turned there were authentic and gorgeous moments unfolding. The suppliers who brought Anna and Ged’s vision to life were nothing short of amazing. Cate & Matt at Sheffield Town Hall and Manor Farm, Oldcotes.
Cate and Matt’s intimate wedding at Sheffield Town followed by a party at Manor Farm, Oldcotes.
An intimate Sheffield city centre wedding followed by a party at Manor Farm.
Cate and Matt had a two part wedding. They chose to keep their official wedding ceremony intimate with only their children and immediate family in attendance. Cate and Matt were married at Sheffield Town Hall on a quiet Thursday morning. Sheffield Town Hall is a beautiful venue for all sizes of wedding - there are a number of rooms to accommodate various group sizes and the team there make every wedding feel special. Micro weddings are becoming more and more popular and Sheffield Town Hall and the surrounding Peace Gardens make a gorgeous backdrop for photographs.

All florals are by Bren at Wyndthorpe Cottage Flowers.
Cate and Matt’s children wanted to be close to their parents during the ceremony which is only natural. Even small weddings can feel like big days for children and allowing them to be with you can help them to feel happy and calm.

A relaxed twenty minutes for photographs with family in Sheffield’s Peace Gardens.
Seth playing by the fountains in his super cute, personalised braces. Cate and Matt were so happy to let their children run around and play rather than asking them to be in too many group photographs - formal photographs have their place and importance but it’s more likely to be the photos where they’re free to play that they’ll look back on and remember how happy the day was.
I only spent an hour or so with Cate and Matt in Sheffield but I’m so glad that they have these photographs to document the story of their wedding day. Please don’t assume photographers won’t be happy to come and photograph your micro wedding for a short time - lots of us are more than happy to offer shorter packages if we have availability. We LOVE love and want to tell your story through photography no matter how big or small your wedding day is.
Cate & Matt - The Party at Manor Farm, Oldcotes.
Along with the help of florals by Bren at Wyndthorpe Cottage Flowers Cate decorated the barn herself. She used foliage from relative’s gardens and made most of the decor by hand. Gorgeous, relaxed flowers from Bren’s cottage garden worked perfectly with the old red brick and candlelight in the barn and outdoor games kept guests entertained.
The weather was on side so speeches were able to take place in the courtyard of Manor Farm. Pizzas were served by Wood Fired Pizza Co and they were so good that Nancy was eating hers throughout her Dad’s entire speech. Ha.
I loved being part of Cate and Matt’s two part wedding. Each day was beautiful, relaxed and meaningful and had family at the heart of every moment.

Lisa & Jon at The Chimney House and The Mowbray, Sheffield.
Lisa and Jon’s autumn wedding at The Chimney House and The Mowbray, Sheffield. An intimate October wedding photographed by Sheffield photographers covering Yorkshire and beyond.
Lisa and Jon had a gorgeous October wedding in Kelham Island, Sheffield. They took inspiration from the Autumn season which made for a warm, rich colour palette for the details of their wedding day. The day was personal and intimate with their ceremony taking place at The Chimney House and their reception at The Mowbray. Lisa arrived in her dad’s vintage red car which was the perfect choice for this Autumnal wedding.
Flowers were by the wonderfully talented local florist Betty’s Flower Club.
The ceremony at The Chimney House was lit by candlelight - the red brick of the building and the glow of candles made the space perfect for their Autumn wedding.
After the ceremony we headed out into Kelham Island for confetti, drinks and some portraits of Lisa and Jon outside The Chimney House.
Before heading to The Mowbray we made use of some of the beautiful spaces inside The Chimney House for photographs.
After the ceremony and a few drinks we headed over to The Mowbray, Kelham Island. The two venues are close to one another meaning people can walk or easily take a taxi. Speeches were heartfelt and personal and included lots of Celtic traditions dotted throughout.
Details at The Mowbray were Autumnal, rich and warm in colour. A tarot card reader was on hand to provide entertainment which fitted perfectly with the autumn theme of the day.

Details of how the traditions and rituals of the day help to make for a happy marriage.
Lisa and Jon’s autumn wedding was a dream to photograph. The day was so personal and we loved learning about the different rituals and traditions - we even took the longer way home after we had finished to honour the couple’s request. The colour palette and style of the day worked beautifully for an October wedding and my love of warm, deep, rich tones in images worked so well with details and both of their Sheffield venues.

Leonie & Chris’ Micro-wedding at Barnsley Town Hall.
Leonie and Chris’ intimate, micro-wedding at Barnsley Town Hall, Yorkshire.
Leonie and Chris recently hired me to photograph their intimate micro-wedding at Barnsley Town Hall. They needed a wedding photographer who was happy to capture a couple of hours to tell the story of their day - micro-weddings are becoming more and more popular and I firmly believe that every couple should have beautiful photographs to look back on, no matter how big or intimate their day is. I love micro-weddings and elopements and my own wedding was very small and informal. Like Leonie and Chris we only had our closest family members at the ceremony but having beautiful, natural and artistic photographs was still a priority for me. As a photographer, I know how much value photographs hold and every couple I work with has my full energy on their wedding day, whether I’ve been hired for a couple of hours or the entire day.

There’s something about town hall weddings which feels both timeless and rock and roll to me. I’ve worked at Barnsley Town Hall, Sheffield Town Hall, Doncaster Register Office and York Register Office and each location offers plenty of great backdrops for beautiful wedding photographs. Click here to see a micro-wedding in York Register Office and here to see Sheffield & Kelham Island weddings.
Leonie’s bouquet was made from dried flowers and was arranged by her mum. Leonie’s dress felt both modern and timeless and I loved her short veil!

Meaningful wedding moments captured after the ceremony at Barnsley Town Hall.
A short thirty minute walk was long enough to create some beautiful, natural and artistic images to tell the story of their wedding day. I also made sure to capture photographs of their children enjoying the day.
It was an honour to play a part in Leonie and Chris’ wedding day at Barnsley Town Hall. Planning a micro-wedding? I would love to hear from you! You can read more about weddings and contact me here.

Emily & Glen’s Summer Wedding at Barnsley Town Hall & The Woodhead Barn, Holmfirth.
Emily and Glen’s relaxed summer wedding at Barnsley Town Hall and The Woodhead Barn, Holmfirth.
I spent the morning with Emily while she got ready at her at her family home in Barnsley with her closest friends and family. Laura at Craft Makeup was there to give Emily the wedding makeup of her dreams including the most perfect red lip which complimented the deep and vibrant colours of the day. Paul (my husband and assistant photographer) spent the morning with Glen and once Glen and friends were ready they headed into Barnsley for a pint and some casual portraits.

Emily and her dad were taken to Barnsley Town Hall in the most amazing vintage Beetle which made for beautiful, unique photographs.

Emily and Glen had an intimate and relaxed ceremony at Barnsley Town Hall. Barnsley Town Hall is a great venue for civil wedding ceremonies - the team are lovely, the building is beautiful and there are plenty of pubs and unique places for photographs nearby.
The main ceremony room at Barnsley Town Hall.
After the wedding ceremony Emily and Glen headed up to their reception at The Woodhead Barn in Holmfirth. The Woodhead Barn is perfect for people wanting a beautiful but informal vibe for their wedding day. The barn is surrounded by beautiful countryside and the grounds are large enough to have a tipi/marquee. Details included potted plants which doubled as wedding favours, a mixture of glass bottles, fairy lights and hand picked flowers.
Details at The Woodhead Barn, Holmfirth.
Speeches were relaxed with both Emily, Glen and their parents and friends making speeches. I will always remember Emily saying “I travelled all around the world to find the love of my life and he was in Barnsley all along”
Emily and her bridesmaids who wore gorgeous, burnt orange dresses.
Emily and Glen knew they wanted their dog to be there for some of the photos - they had a friend bring him along for ten minutes but you can hire people to do this too! If your pet is a big part of your life then it makes sense that they’re included in the day. We took a little time after the speeches to make some unique portraits of Emily and Glen but their priority for their wedding photography was to have lots of lovely, natural images of everyone just enjoying the day.
Emily and Glen kept the meal super informal by hiring a fish and chip van. After fish and chips there were lots of locally produced cakes which people could help themselves to. This is such a nice way to keep things relaxed if you’re having an informal wedding. Later in the evening a Duke’s Pizza van arrived - safe to say the guests were very well fed at this wedding!
A band played in the evening and Emily and Glen danced their first dance to ‘I Wanna Be Yours’ by the Arctic Monkeys.
Emily and Glen’s summer wedding was the perfect example of doing your day, your way. They’re such a relaxed and joyful couple and to have made their wedding day anything but informal would have felt so wrong for them. The day was so chilled from start to finish and relaxed weddings hold just as much meaning as the more traditional ones. Emily and Glen’s laidback nature was the perfect fit for our style of photography - we love to take natural, joyful images alongside artistic portraits, giving people a collection of images that transport them back to exactly how their wedding day felt.

Nicole & Jess
Nicole & Jess
This intimate city centre wedding was an absolute joy to photograph. Nicole and Jess celebrated with their children and closest family and friends at one of my all time favourite wedding venues - The Chimney House in Sheffield is such a beautiful venue, bursting with character, charm and quirks reflecting Kelham Island’s unique history.
Just married at The Chimney House, Sheffield
The ceremony was gorgeous with beautiful florals and candles in an array of vases and coloured glass bottles. The team at the Chimney House really know what they’re doing when it comes to decor and the red brick of the building creates such a beautiful, warm energy.
Beautiful details were natural, warm and relaxed.
After the ceremony we went for a wander around Kelham Island to make some unique photographic art with Nicole and Jess - I really love to spend twenty minutes alone with couples to ensure we have some stunning portraits to reflect the unique relationship they share. It’s also a really lovely breather for couples where they can spend some time being a newly married couple away from the hustle and bustle of the day. Kelham Island itself is a dream for photographers and couples who love texture and colour in their photographs and Nicole, Jess and I were very much on the same page about the images we wanted to create.
This room in The Chimney House never disappoints
Nicole’s stunning, bespoke dress by Kate Beaumont
The day ended with speeches and a feasting style meal - lots of plates of food passed person to person which brought such a relaxed, informal and celebratory energy to Jess and Nicole’s wedding day.
Nicole and Jess were a joy to work with and, whilst it’s obviously a day they’ll never forget, I will never forget the day either - their warmth and gorgeous energy meant I left the day feeling so joyful and light for days to come.
Love,
Laura
